Dr. Martos has written a masterful work documenting the history of the seven sacraments. By the end of the book, I had gained considerable appreciation for the work of the Holy Spirit in growing the great oak tree of the Church. Dr. Martos provides a fair and balanced description of sacraments in the Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant churches. His liberal diatribes are distractions, especially the one on priestly celibacy, but thankfully these are short and tolerable. If there is a future edition, I hope he deletes the diatribes and replaces them with an expanded coverage of the Eastern Orthodox and Uniate Mysteries.

Martos's treatment of the history of the sacraments is comprehensive and very enlightening, and presented in a clear and orthodox manner. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in the Roman Catholic view of the sacraments or in Church history.There are only two disappointing aspects. First, Martos's treatment of the later 20th century gives the impression that sacramental theology is now indefinite, but that this does not matter as long as the believer finds their concepts to be "doors to the sacred." Secondly, he has the rather annoying tendency to use American RC parishes as illustrations of the promise ofVatican II fulfilled. For example, in his treatment of the sacrament of Reconciliation, he overly stresses "communal guilt" and such "corporate" sins as racism, and suggests that sacramental confession of individual sins fell by the wayside because of this new "awareness." Both are faulty concepts which he presents as if they were highly positive.It is a fine reference work, but serious theological students will need to be certain it is one of several.

A very detailed read and very informative.This book gives a detailed and enlightening historical view to the sacraments. This book was VERY helpful because I grew up protestant and do not know much about Catholicism and the ritual practices. I am not a history person but this book was really good. Along with the historical aspects of sacraments, the author lays out the information in a detailed manner that makes learning history more interesting.

Book was to supplement a study program I am in.

Very useful to learn or even gain better knowledge of the sacraments. It has so much rich history included that you will get something out of every page.

This book is by far the most detailed and example heavy book on the topic I've read. The main book is about 1123 pages, but once go get into the meat of the book, there's examples and diagrams on almost every other page, sometimes even every page. The great thing about this is if you're impatient, you could skip examples. However, I wouldn't recommend this because every example goes into some new level of depth, and they often come from real software. The only thing you need to be aware of is you should have moderate understanding of C programming, and basic knowledge of ASM. If you don't, they do a good job to explain it, but it might be difficult to follow.

The book itself is great. However, when I ordered this book on amazon, I only received 1 of 2 volumes. In addition, the cover suggested it was the first volume but the book was actually volume 2. Appears that the publisher messed up when they printed the book leading to overall chaos and confusion.

Very interesting text that works through the steps in software vulnerability analysis. Not good for a beginner as it assumes proficiency with programming, but that's to be expected for the subject matter. Having developed code for in-house use, I haven't been too concerned with secure coding in the past. This was very interesting reading, IMO. By the way, I ordered it from Amazon directly first. The recent version is broken up into two volumes of about 600 pages each. I received only volume 2 first round and was told my best option was to return it and buy from another seller as they couldn't ship me just the first volume. Good luck.

The book is without a doubt crucial for anyone doing software security audits. The binding was horrible and started falling apart on the bottom 2 inches of both books. I used glue to fix it. But seriously fix your binding. There's no good reason for bad binding like this coming from a major publisher like AW.

I bought the Kindle version of this so that I could read on-the-go, and I have to say that in some places the formatting makes it hard to follow in the examples. The hard copy is much better, although significantly less portable. I'd recommend the hard copy, given the choice between the two.

Quite a book. Not much on web application specifics, but much heavier on C, UNIX, and security of software. It will however serve as a handy reference in the future, as most of this information will not go out of date.

This book is still one of the best books on the subject, and you won't regret buying it if you work with information security or cares about secure development.

I also only received the 1st volume. I am super disappointed because the book is great but it seems the publisher really messed up on a recent publication.

After high school Dennis attended Nashville Auto Diesel College, and it wasn’t long before he was in school again, this time for electronics, paid for by the U.S. Air Force. In 1970 Dennis started as a mechanic at the Clemons Tractor Company. Twenty years later he left the Clemons Tractor Company to work for Painless Wiring, engineering wiring systems for the street rod market. In addition to his work designing street rod components and building hot rods for his friends and himself, Dennis is active in a variety of hot rod and street rod organizations, including NSRA, KKOA, and SEMA. Between designing and building, Dennis holds seminars on automotive electrical systems for customers and organizations across the country, at events like the Street Rod Nationals and The Rod & Custom Americruise.

There is a short chapter on DC electrics at the front that overlooks such fundamentals as the difference between series and parallel circuits or such things as the workings of SPST and DPST switches. If you want a good understanding of electrical principals and circuits I recommend Automotive Wiring and Electrical Systems by Tony Candela.There is no information on wiring-related tools and how to use them. Here again I recommend Tony Candela’s book.Most of the book is devoted to showcasing Painless products or showing some guys performing some projects such as installing a wire harness in a ’39 Ford or re-wiring a Chevy pickup. “A Detailed How-To Guide” it is NOT. In fact, there is more detailed how-to information in a Ron Francis wiring products catalog than there is in this book.

Straight forward in the general sense, very interesting and is really what I expected. For those doing a complete wire replacement or a specialty like air conditioning or other fairly high power usage, this book would be invaluable. For extreme detail like what solder should be used for the electrical wiring, it has few details. The major auto wire companies recommend soldering open barrel connecting joints after they have been crimped, one multi question may be what solder, 40/60 or 60/40, lead vs silver, .02" vs .04" etc. But this book was easy to read and offered many hints and recommendations that will go into my total rewiring on a 65 Pontiac. Not to worry, I actually bought this book and 2 others to cover the bases and as long as I can perform, I have the answers I need.

The basic content is excellent, though a glossary would be a fine improvement.Two kinds of flaws weaken the book.First, The use of many photographs is an excellent aid to comprehension. Unfortunately, many of the photos are so "tight" that it is unclear whar part of the car is shown. He leaves it unclear in what order the photos should be studied - right to left then top to bottom versus top to bottom then right to left. This causes some confusion.Second, the guy needed a proofreader. The book is riddled with little mistakes that are distracting. Examples include misspelled words, accidental substitutions of the wrong word, and occasional simple grammatical errors.If he does a revision at some point, these will be easily solved problems. These problems don't make it a bad book - but they kept it from being an exceptionally good book.

If you are buying this book to wire your hot rod with out a painless wiring harness. Do not buy this book. As it only pertains to a painless wiring harness. And when you buy a painless wiring harness all this information is included with the purchase.

If your a novice at auto wiring, this is great.

The book is specific to Painless wiring but can be very useful understanding wiring basics and harnesses made by other manufacturers. I found it to be well written and easy to understand. Learned a lot from it. I would definitely recommend it.

Lots of useful information. Yes, it seems to be a promo for a major wiring harness company, but you just need to get past that.

Book was not as detailed as I had hoped but useful reference material for grandson in the future.
