The only reason I read this book was because of George Pells TV interview. I could not believe he was so cold and uncaring. I believe he should stand down from his position in the Catholic Church. There is no way he could have been unaware of the child abuse that was happening. As he said it was of little interest to him. How could any decent human being say that. No excuses.

I found this book very interesting, easy to read and informative. It covers the man, his personality and his background, as well as his progress within the Roman Catholic Church. David Marr has obviously done his homework in researching this book and this comes across in the wealth of detail, given in a journalistic style.

This book does a great job of breaking down the many facets of Jewish prayer--from the basics to the very traditional age-old practices. It features diagrams which help to demonstrate the 'choreography' of Jewish prayer, and is beautifully broken down into chapters which make referencing what you need a snap! This book would be great for those who want to better understand or increase their level of observance, as well as potential converts and even friends/family who might be participating in rituals in the home or synagogue and just want to know more! This will be a go-to reference for years to come!!

How to Pray as a Jew is a comprehensive guide to the orthodox siddur. For those who attend orthodox services, or prayer at home, this book does not have all that much to offer; it does delve a bit into the history of the siddur's composition, but not to any great extent.For the rank beginner, the major drawback of this book is that the author does not explain the siddur in order, but by level of importance. So, for those not familiar with siddur, having one handy while reading this book is key.

There's so much orange highlighter in my book it's unreadable.Other than that, I have the Kindle version and it is one of the most respected and recommended books for new jews and those that are interested. It's a bit on the Orthodox side, but if one can see past that, it's quite the authoritative book. It explains how to put on tefillin and the tallit with instructional pictures.The only reason I gave it a 2 was because my paperback came in an unreadable state. It's a worthy purchase otherwise.

If you have an open mind about judaism which the church does im catholic, this book is my go to book when i dont know where else to go, i have another one but its been used so much i needed another. This book is where i go to meet God face to face with the patriarchs on mt. Sinai or the temples. The prayers are directed at God in the most mystical way.Prayers formulated by an assembly of holy men . My best book along with the sidur and bible where im totally with God in union again when i have dryness or darkness in thoughts or prayer.

Awesome book. Loaded with info. Got this particular item on Kindle. Its lots more then a prayer book. It talks about keeping the sabbath, how to dress for sabbath service, how to perform and conduct oneself at sabbath service. Prayer shawls and so much more. I love it.

This book is essential. If you want to understand prayer from a hebraic lens this book is for you. He even explains why prostration is no longer apart of prayer except for certain holyday and karaites. Very good read. Great read for Christians as well. Christians may understand a lot more of what Jesus was talking about when referencing prayer and fasting.

Really enjoyed this book for its clear thinking and excellent arguments. We are bombarded daily with "green propaganda" and it is refreshing to finally have a clear, thoughtful, comprehensive, and moral case for why to use fossil fuels be presented in such a logical and understandable format. The authors insights into the fallacies of the "green" arguments and his emphasis on the incredibly positive contributions that energy has on improving human life were most appreciated. The obvious benefits of using fossil fuels are so enormous and the proven technologies to manage the negatives clearly make the case for the increased use of fossil fuels for the betterment of the human race.

Epstein makes a good case for the value of fossil fuels, especially in developing countries. And points out, that without them, most Western nations would go backwards into Third World status themselves.The book's a bit repetitive, but worth reading.

This is a great book!! It describes everything that fossil fuels have given to the world. Fossil fuels provide us with our wonderful life—our homes, our food, our clothing, our medicines and hospitals, all of our transportationn, computers, cell phoness, etc. You name it and fossil energy is behind it—there is absolutely nothing else on this earth, other than fossil energy, that makes our lives comfortable and safe.Epstein describes the very real problems in the use of, so-called, ‘renewables.’ He explains why converting to them means the death of millions of people around the world.

I had never thought of the energy debate as one about morals. A basic fight between those who want to better peoples lives versus those who want to better what they believe to be nature.

Almost to the end in just a few days. Direct, well-referenced and with historical context on many facets of the topic. Developing countries have as much right to inexpensive energy as today's first-world nations did during their development. The author describes in detail, both historically and currently, how those seeking grants and influence thereby sell their credibility as hundreds of their dire predictions have come to nothing. Predictions of the 70s have us all wearing gas masks in the cities by now and also predicted that Britain would be a near-desert wasteland by 2020. The world was to be soon to run out of oil. So many of these negative predictions failed to foresee the ability to "scrub" emissions, failed to foresee advances in oil and gas extraction, and basically underestimated the scientists and engineers who have accomplished so much in the face of such negativity. Dusting off those dire predictions and holding them up to the light gives us some inkling of how likely the new set of dire predictions may play out. New to me was a detailed examination of research indicating accelerated growth in many plants with the slight increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide. One of the best revelations was a side-by-side comparison of global temperature change of the 102 computer models that FAIL epically to predict anything. Only two of the 102 models come anywhere close and even those two overshot reality by a sizeable margin. Truth is: it's complicated far beyond the ability to predict.

I enjoyed the philosophical argument that fossil fuel is even good for the planet. It seems nowadays we have to be careful of blaspheming against the holy narrative of man made climate change, as if it is criticism exempt.

This book is one of the best books on that issue and for if that is your main concern then this book does fit that bill and will teach you more than you ever thought you would know about those subjects. However the way he does it makes this book much more far reaching. He not only deals with (and destroys) the subject at hand but does it in a way that makes you rethink your views on it and host of other issues as well.In short, not only a great book to answer your questions about global warming hysteria and the energy problems we face but also a book that helps you learn how to see the world around you and how you think about it in a different and more intelligent way.

Worth reading to learn the story of how the Wild Weasels contributed to the Gulf War (and some of the Vietnam history too). Sometimes confusing/hard to keep track of whose story is being told at any given point in the book since many aircrew contributed their individual stories. I did not appreciate the critical, denigrating comments about tanker pilots with no opportunity to defend their actions/provide their side of the story - it comes off as an unnecessary cheap shot against fellow service members trying to do their jobs under no doubt difficult circumstances. The same harsh criticisms were not equally applied to the many Weasel pilots who flamed out their own engines at missile launch, for example. It's not a very deep book in terms of research, e.g. were the SAM site attacks described in each story effective? What do the official post-attack reconnaissance/battle damage assessment and intelligence records indicate? It feels somewhat incomplete and unsatisfying to read "the radar went off the air at the time our missile would have struck, so either we destroyed it, or the enemy crew shut it off temporarily...". Maybe that's just the nature of the beast (i.e. no records exist due to the fast-moving war scenario), but if they do exist, the stories may have been made more complete via historical research? In summary, the book provides a lot of insight into the difficult missions, flying conditions (and living conditions) faced by the Wild Weasel pilots, but it's a little rough around the edges and could use some historical research to completely flesh out their story.

I really enjoyed this book. I flew as a Navy EA-6B Prowler crewman in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, tasked with suppression of air defenses. Though a different aircraft, service, and conflict, I found this account very similar to my own experience, capturing perfectly many of the emotions and considerations involved in that type of mission, one not often written about. On top of that, the narrative flow is excellent, making the book a great read. Not only are the descriptions of combat vivid, but the brief descriptions of expeditionary living conditions back at base are also enjoyable. One more factor that makes this book a gem is that it represents an account of the last major combat employment of the legendary F-4 Phantom.Highly recommended for any reader interested in modern air power at war, and any reader who appreciates a vivid, personal narrative that puts you in the moment. When my sons are old enough, I will encourage them to read this book to get a feel for my own wartime flying experiences.

I was in the desert too in 1991, even though I was an Avionics Specialist on the F-16's out of Moody AFB I really can feel what you went through. I didn't see SAM's and AAA but I did live the missions when our pilots would return from their mission. Without the Weasels there might have been a totally different outcome to Desert Storm. Thanks for your talent and loyalty to your country.

having participated in Desert Shield Desert Storm as an electronics technician on C-130s i could relate to the tent city life, the chow, sheer terror followed by endless boredom when we going home? And to get some onsite on a fine aircraft the F-4 Phantom. I was an electrician on F-4s during the linebacker operation 1971-1972. with the 8th TAC FTR Wing Ubon RTAFB. home of the Wolfpack! I liked the book, I felt it was an easy read where you were able to learn about what it was like to be in a wild weasel unit on deployment during the gulf war. You learn lots of little bits of information that you won’t discover in a normal overview of military operations. I was hoping for a perhaps broader view of wild weasel operations during the war and some more operation stories, but overall the focus on the personal experiences during the war was enlightening enough to make it a satisfying book to read.

Memories! I worked weapons on the Weasels in Operation Southern Watch, 1993-1994, and there were pilots and planes I remember well.Excellent History.

Good read the facts are finally coming out on what is going on with the troops and flyers in the Asian theatre. It's a weird world out there and the "media" as usual is hyping the situation sideways to the commitment and hardships our people are experiencing.

I don't know if it's images of the wild west or of a mad man, but facing a SAM head on takes a gutsy pilot. Here in vivid detail is the Weasel war over Iraq and the fourth largest army in the world. Written in a no nonsense manner, it accurately reflects both the rush of combat and the pain of deployment. The appendices are equally valuable with a trove of interesting data. This book is a must have for anyone who enjoys military history.

I enjoyed The Fifth Knight, with great character interactions and a gripping story to follow it along, and I couldn’t wait until the second installment of this Adult Reverse Harem Fantasy! Claire Luana and Jesikah Sundin have done it again, building on the character development and interaction.Like last time, it follows King Arthur and his knights about a week after the end of The Fifth Knight, reeling from Fionna’s actions. The five knights need to venture for the Holy Grail to reverse the curse on the land before it’s too late. I enjoyed the world building and mythology that appears on this grail quest, which was well thought out and based once again on Arthurian lore. There’s a section at the end of the book which explains a lot of this, and I found it helpful. Once again, there’s enough of a diversion to feel fresh.Once again, the prose is vivid and flows nicely, a tough job for a collaborated book. I like the pacing, as it switches between action/adventure and the romance and sexy times, which there is a bit more of compared to the first book. The character interactions were again, some of my favorite parts, especially with Lancelot, Fionna and Arthur, with their conflicted feelings on the various curses that inflict them and their land. While they still feel like friends, the tension is dripping between them as the journey continues. The plot is gripping, especially with the twists near the end, when it’s clear that their journey is far from over, and ends on clear cliffhangers.I’m looking forward to the series conclusion to see how it all plays out. If you are into a sexy fantasy, I highly recommend it.

Fun writing and different view points keep this retelling moving swiftly. I can not pick which knight is my favorite....

Claire Luana and Jesikah Sundin have produced an “Arthurian Legend Fantasy” in their The Knights of Caerleon series that’s clearly loosely based on the classic myth but is different and highly imaginative. The love of Arthur, Lancelot, Galahad, and Percival’s for Irish warrior Fionna Allán, their fifth knight, is perfectly portrayed in a take that full of adventure, perfect evil (hello Morgan), and great world-building from Caerleon to the Scoti Kingdom of Alba. The Third Curse (Book 2), complete with its eponymous curse, is an epic fantasy adventure that’s a frankly glorious read. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

I was given an ARC of this and I volunteered to leave a review. I'm not even sure where to begin with how much I enjoyed this book. I don't give spoilers because Jesikah and Claire worked hard to write this. All I have to say is that you have to check this out. I've never read Reverse Harem stories before until I was introduced to Fionna. Her strength and determination are admirable and the romance aspect of her story gives me all the feels. Right now I don't know whether I'm team Arthur or team Percival. I know the purpose of a Reverse Harem is not to choose but Jesikah and Claire make each character real and lovable that I want to see them all with a Happy Ever After. I promise you won't regret reading this.

What a sequel, now we see the tale of the five brave knights, on their quest to save their land, break the curses and find the Holy GrailFiona and the four knights are now on a quest, but it will take them a lot of courage to battle the forces that they are faced with, including their desire for their fair and beautiful knight, especially LancelotWith a curse so deep that hangs over Lancelot, will he ever feel true love once again with anyone?And what of Fiona's family? Will she ever see them safe again?You will just have to get your hands on this series and find out! You'll love every moment, especially the steamy ones ;)Received a copy from the authors themselves, for an honest review, thank you!

The first book was very good once I overcame my dislike of the male character chapters being written in 3rd person. This book is truly excellent! Incredible world building is woven with masterful story telling. Honestly, I cannot tell you the last time I continued reading a story with 3rd person pov. I simply can't get into the story usually. That is not the case here. Fionna is lovely, strong and impressive while still vulnerable emotionally as shown in her interactions with the king and Lancelot. Steamy scenes are enticing, not cringe worthy. I'm impressed!

Claire and Jesikah did a fantastic job of continuing their spin on the Arthurian legend. While I do feel like the pacing of this one was a bit slower, for me, the overarching story has me absolutely enthralled and I just LOVE their character cast. Every Knight has his or her own shining (and not so shining) character traits that bring them to life between the pages.And not just during the spicy bits 😏 Which definitely amped up in this book 😏Definitely recommend if you want a new take on an old classic, and if you don’t mind heated romance 😏Tl;dr - A fantastic continuation to this clever reimagining—the colorful characters will drag you eagerly along on another romp through the pages.
