The extra readings are nice too.I just wish there was a way Orthodox books could be more inclusive. i understand that they can't change Torah. But the four sons could be the four children. The matriarchs could be added to the text in places. But, this is an ArtScroll publication and, like all of their publications, is authoritative, complete, and very well done.

I thought the Hagadah was OK, but not up to my expectations. No songs, none of the good old days we were used to in our old books. We had a good sedar, in spite of my criticism, and the participants liked it better than I did.

The great thing about this book it that it's fun to read. It has a lot of pics about legends that are somehow similar to the events depicted on Star Wars. If you are a fan of the Star Wars films, or just a fan of mithology, you will love this book.It's a great gift for children who are beginning to read, and are somehow familiar with Star Wars.

Cool look at the power of myth from historical and star wars storylines. I wish they expanded more on the historical parts of this book but it is for kids.

This is a first rate introduction for younger readers to the structure of heroic stories.Taking examples from the Arthurian legends, Aeneas, Norse legends, Greek mythology, and other traditional sources and comparing them to the Star Wars epic, this book lays out the framework of the heroic journey. OK, so it's not a scholarly study of mythic literature, but it is an excellent primer for younger (10-14) readers, using both classical sources and a popular contemporary source to describe literary patterns in a fashion that won't put them to sleep.Try to make an 11 yr old read Chaffinch or Edith Hamilton's Mythology and things will start with eye-rolls and groans. Tell them the have to read a book about Star Wars, and they'll be so confused that you're making them read about a movie that the educational aspects will slip right past their conscious minds and into their brains before they realize that you put one over on them.The pictures are good, but make the pages a little busy, but given that they show King Arthur with pre-1000 BCE style arms and armor rather than sixteenth century armor, I think I can forgive the author's excesses.E. Don, is a scientist with Aspergers and his relationship with Rosie is just wonderful. Especially considering where Don started out from, and all the hurdles he had to overcome. Seeing him now with his child, and still going strong with Rosie after 13 years made me love him even more. Personally, I love it when kids are part of a story. Even better if the kid is like Hudson, a mini Don, with all his complexities.I’m not going to lie, I have a weakness for quirky characters.And often that comes when characters who struggle with every day occurrences, social niceties, and an overall way of thinking differently in a world that isn’t very forgiving or tolerant.The Rosie Result is all about Don trying to make Hudson’s life at school easier. The way he goes about is heart warming and so “Don”. Hudson, with eleven years has a mind of his own, and a very strong personality. And I loved how the author took the offerings and advice of a village to resolve it all.Don’s problem solving as always made me grin and chuckle. He still struggles with some aspects but he has Rosie to guide him when unsure. I truly love their relationship. The outspokenness, openness, and honesty between them works wonders.Also incredibly fascinating was the interaction between school and parents, all the small dramas and school politics, especially in regards to Autism. It was a bit eye-opening too if I’m honest. But I loved how united Don and Rosie were in all things Hudson. I could talk for hours about the way Don and Rosie made me smile whenever they played good cop and bad cop – at least their version of it.I believe this might even be the BEST book in this series.That’s actually pretty amazing – it’s rare that sequels surpass the first novel. But for me it’s all about the kids – they make books even better and actually bring out the best in many characters.

The first big plus was that I didn’t spend the entire book wanting Rosie to...well...die. I found her insufferable in the first two books. The author managed to hit a nice stride with her character and put her where she belongs...as a SUPPORTING supporting character. I would’ve given this five stars but the first third of the book was so slow! There were also so many characters and plots that, while tied up in the end, were a bit confusing. And I came into the book having read the first two! Not to mention that Don wasn’t allowed to shine as much as I’d hoped. Otherwise, Don’s escapades-especially with the animals mating idea-had me laughing such I feared giving myself a hernia! Seriously. I laughed until I cried. I hope we’re not done with Don and the fam!!!

My favorite of the Rosie books, and I loved The Rosie Project. This book was funny - some times laugh out loud funny, sometimes eye-rolling funny. It was also imbued with taut writing and warmth, charm, and love. It’s thought provoking discussion of autism was engaging without being heavy or preachy and delivered with care and grace. Only vegans and anti-vaxxers need be worried - on many fronts. Well done. Now I guess we need to wait for the movie. Jennifer Lawrence was all wrong for Rosie. How about Alia Shawkat?

These books are just happiness for the soul - the third book being every bit as enjoyable as the other two. I am RARELY one to read trilogies, losing interest as I go. The way Mr. Simsion writes in Don’s voice, the clever way the reader knows things that Don does not see, the nuttiness of the characters that surround him - it’s a formula the author pulls off perfectly. And I could not wait to read it. What an enjoyable ride.

Continues the fine work started in the first 2 books, lots of great plot points and twists and turns, along with great insight into our shared differences

So good to be back in Don Tillman's head! It's clear Graeme Simsion has done even more research on ASD and is so thoughtful when it comes to exploring this area. Love the trilogy!

Not as entertaining as the Rosie Project but still a good read. Following family dynamics and the evolution of friendships very well developed!

I beat this book up!!! Drug it on more hiking trips than I can count. I eventually left it in a rented forest service cabin as a gift to the National Forest Service when I left Montana. I would ALWAYS recommend any Falcon guide if hiking is your "thing". d:-)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Through a baseball story David A. Kelly once again reveals a who-done-it mystery that will hold the attention of any kid for many hours and the results will surprise you. I like the sportsman like conduct in the end of the story when Big D, Boston Red Sox player, and Louie Lopez, Cub player are still friends, and that is real sportsmanship. Surely, this intriguing baseball story deserves five stars, and I'm Marvin P. Ferguson, author of Boys On The Gold Coast.

My 3rd grader LOVES this series!!!! Just wish that the books would come out sooner than every 6-8 months!!!

Easy to read for my 8 year old. Sports plus mystery is a perfect fit! Kept his interest and the mystery was a secret til the end.

My son loves playing baseball and I bought this book to engage him in reading more. The story in the book was great but we had an issue with the pages falling out and I had to tape them back into the book. Other then that, its great book for kids to read!!

I've quite a few excellent WWII histories but this one is one of the most visceral and savage accounts I've ever seen. Your feelings about the universality of the foot soldier will never be the same.

The best way to start this review is to say "wow." Just "wow." This is the most engrossing, intense, and amazing book I've read in a long time. My only regret is that I didn't read it sooner.Sajer obviously fought for the Nazi's on the Eastern Front during WWII. That said, there's nary a peep of ideology in the book, either pro-Nazi or anti-communist. This is really about one man's experiences, not about what caused the war, or even what he believed when he wrote the book.The experiences themselves are stunning - frightening, but stunning. He starts off with some pretty brutal details about basic training as a young man/child - Sajer couldn't pass the test to be in the Luftwaffe, so he ended up in the infantry, first driving a truck, later as a member of the renowned Gross Deutschland division, seeing action in many of the most important battles of the Eastern Front.Sajer himself said he didn't write this book so that it could be cited by historians - the book is about experiences. And like few other authors, Sajer conveys those experiences - hunger, fatigue, hope, fear, sadness, cold. Anyone who believes that war is a glorious experience will be sadly disappointed - Sajer expends no effort to make himself into a hero, and indeed, while Sajer loves some of his comrades-in-arms, the book overall is devoid of positive energy.I haven't read All Quiet on the Western Front in a number of years, but honestly, I can't imagine it surpassing this book.There have been some criticisms of this book by reviewers who maintain it is made up. Notably, some of the critics have recanted after corresponding with Sajer, and frankly, I don't know how anyone who reads this book could imagine that it is not true.This book is an absolute must read. No doubt. Buy it now.

Simply incredible! One can watch all the Hitler documentaries on TV that one wants but nothing will explain the pain and suffering of warfare in intricate detail like Forgotten Soldier. When I say "I couldn't put it down"...I truly mean it. All the pain, all the sorrow and all the bloody gore of suffering by the simple German soldier is on display here in words that only an excellent author can express. I'm a "much more than casual" student of military history and this one really got to me. Very highly recommended!

You might read the account of a German soldier hoping to get a first-hand account of real life “action” and “adventure.” Those who have never fought and have watched war only in the movies would make it to be a glamorous or exciting thing. You never get the account of the wrecked humanity that is left by war in those who survive it.Sajer was a mid-war French recruit who ended up a transportation soldier in the German Army and was later taken into the GrossDeutschland Infantry Division. His experience of the war was essentially, the long retreat of the Germans from the East Front. There is certainly plenty of description of the action. The fighting. The chaos. The fear. The misery .The misery of the environment (Russian winters!). But it is the thread of humanity that Sajer clings to which really ties it all together. His girlfriend whom he never saw again. His friends who fought alongside him.You get to the end of the book and are left with a vast emptiness that is the bleak reality of what war does to a human being. There is all kinds of misery, horror, and suffering, but this is the horror and suffering of this particular man, who is able to share it in poignant words that leave you with the faintest understanding of what it was like and a vast well of sympathy and hope that a man broken and wrecked by war could have some bit of life left to live. No one can understand who hasn’t been through it but Sajer does a very good job of giving us as much of a taste of the horror of war as we could possibly absorb while sitting in the comfort of our homes and reading about it.You may pick up this book to read it for a first hand account of some “action” or “adventure” but you’ll put it down with a firsthand hope for peace for a man whose humanity was pressed and tested like most people will never know.

Fast delivery and as advertised.

I truly felt a part of the soldiers' lives on the horrible Eastern Front, and after all the reading I have done of WWII - or any war, for that matter - this is by far my favorite for its vivid descriptions that brought to life the experience of all the senses. It was like going through the war with them, inch by inch and step by step, moment to moment and season to season, year after endless, grueling year, and feeling their pain and cold and hunger and agony and indescribable fear. I felt so much for the author as well as his fellow soldiers. I wish I could have known them in real life.

This book is a very personal account of a soldiers life. It is mostly chronological and feels very personal like a stream of consciousness spilled onto the page. I found myself shocked and disturbed by the difficulties endured by those on all sides of the conflict on the eastern front, but the author often notes how poor conditions were for the average German soldiers, which is striking. We envision them as brutal conquerors and plunderers, but as the author describes, the average enlisted soldier on the eastern front was treated "little better than a prisoner", and was often exhausted, underweight and malnourished. Often denied food, clothing, medicine, and most of all rest, they had to deal with the burden of the psychological horrors of war without the healing effect of any eventual victory. After the defeat at Kursk they had to endure years of bloody retreats culminating in the certainty of eventual defeat. In the midst of this terrible war the author speaks of a camaraderie that developed among soldiers which he claims was the deepest sense of connection he would ever feel in his life to anyone. As someone who was never a soldier, I am left awestruck as to what feeling he must be like.
